Within the scope of Snow Lake, the individual’s criminal past is subjected to three different types of background checks for respective reasons.
A Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC) is a Canadian criminal background check that conducts an assessment of an applicant’s background given for certain jobs, volunteer work, and other organizations. The aim of this is to search for specific criminal records through databases such as the Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC).
Police Information Check (PIC) serves a similar purpose to the previous one but does a wider search and is mostly used in employment and areas of volunteering. This includes a search of the Canadian criminal history of the person, which includes not only convictions but also non-convictions, charges, and warrants, using Canadian systems including the Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) and JOIN.
Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) is carried out for a person, who is to take up any position that involves working with trust or authority over vulnerable clients. It searches conviction, charge, and record suspension history across Canadian databases in relation to a sector that is exposed to vulnerabilities.
These checks are important in enhancing safety as well as building confidence in the different industries, particularly when working with sensitive groups.
