In Selkirk, there are three types of checks used: the Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC), the Police Information Check (PIC), and the Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS).
The Police Criminal Record Check (PCRC), also called a basic police records check, identifies if an applicant has any past criminal history. The second one is the Police Information Check (PIC), which determines if an applicant has any pending charges, warrants, court issues, or other relevant information. This is also an enhanced check.
The third check is the Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS), which determines if an applicant has any sexual offences or has received a pardon for a sexual offence. It is required when working with vulnerable populations.
Every police check in Selkirk has its importance. It is helpful to know what type of check is required for the job.
