In the Minto area, there are two categories of Canadian criminal record checks. The first one is the Criminal Records Check (CRC) which screens an individual’s criminal records. This check accesses records through national database systems which includes the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC). This is usually asked as a requirement for employment, volunteer services, and other agencies to provide a clear background of an individual.
The second one is the VSC check which is known as a Canadian Vulnerable Sector Check and is an added requirement for job positions that require one to be in a position of power or trust over other individuals. This check is inclusive of various types of criminal record checks including convictions, non-convictions, and record suspensions. It has more details and is usually demanded for jobs that work with children, the old, or other vulnerable populations. To apply for a VSC one has to go to the nearest detachment center.
