Mayo is a small village with a lot of life in central Yukon, and on the Stewart River. It is easy to understand that the village, founded at the beginning of the twentieth century, is built on the mining and local people's history. Many breathtaking sights are around the village, including mountains and woods, providing the people and tourists with various activities including hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, and so on.
This community also includes the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun, with whose members the village’s cultures intertwine. The municipality integrates traditional leadership when implementing policies of economic progress and cultural conservation. Various activities take place in Mayo over the year which helps in the enhancement of bonding among the residents.
Despite its confines, Mayo provides basic services such as education, medical care, and facilities for sports which allow for a decent living for the inhabitants. The friendliness of the village and the community ideals make it possible to live and visit the Yukon Territory within the village.
