There are multiple differences between British Columbia criminal record checks, Police Information Checks (PIC) and Police Information Checks with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS). Usually required for employment, volunteering or student roles, PIC involves searching CPIC, provincial databases, management systems and court documents for any past crimes. Besides using the Globeia online platform, the Clinton Detachment Centre conduct this check which takes about 3 days to 1 week.
PIC-VS is even more specific because it applies to jobs that involve dealing with vulnerable persons. This police record check has an additional aspect of screening for sex offenders beyond just looking into other relevant criminal history. The Clinton Detachment Centre can only perform PIC-VS unlike in the case of PIC which may be done online too and this British Columbia criminal record check takes a longer period ranging from some weeks up to a month.
