The application to immigrate may be long and tedious. The process itself may take a while and the steps depend on the country involved. In Canada, of course, you have to find out if you’re eligible. Once you are, you must have the requirements completed, submit your profile, and then wait for an invitation to apply.

As the applicant, you have to understand every requirement that needs to be submitted. There will be a lot of paperwork and documents to be filled. One thing is for sure: you need your fingerprints to immigrate.

Why Do You Need Fingerprints for Immigration?

If you want to visit, move, or immigrate to Canada either temporarily or permanently, you need to have your fingerprints taken before the actual application process. This is required by the Canadian law for permanent residence, citizenship, work permit, among other causes.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (formerly called Citizenship and Immigration Canada or CIC) usually requires applicants to get their fingerprints taken within 90 days of receiving a request. Without sending your fingerprints within this timeframe, there will be chances that there will be a delay on your application.

Traditionally, the process of immigration is way longer and more complicated. However, due to the advancements in technology, we can finally enjoy the advantage of a more convenient way to have it done.

Your fingerprints will then be compared to thousands of fingerprints obtained in the data base of the RCMP. This computerized method cuts a lot of time in the process. After filtering all the finger image records, the authorities will then know if you have been involved in criminal activity in the past.

Your fingerprints will also be used to confirm your identity. Biometrics such as fingerprints will make it more challenging for someone to steal your identity. Also, the next time you apply, it will be easier for you to re-enter Canada as you already have previous records.

To make sure that you are within schedule over every immigration process, find an agency that can help you with your application and can send your fingerprints to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) within minutes.

How to Get Fingerprinting Services?

You cannot continue with the process without a letter of request. Make sure to bring it on the day you obtain your fingerprints since the agency will ask for it. Please do bring two government issued IDs.

Once the fingerprinting process is done, the fingerprinting agency will then send it to the RCMP for a criminal record inspection. If upon checking, you are cleared, you will receive the results in the mail. You should submit these results to the IRCC as soon as possible.

Take note, however, that if you lived in another country for more than 90 days, you may be needing a police clearance from those countries. Make sure to do this step prior the fingerprinting process so everything will go smoothly.
