Why do Canadians want to work in Spain? The reasons are endless. One of the most obvious reasons is the number of great jobs Canadians can find really advantageous. Here, we’ll give you a glimpse of why it’s such a pleasure to go to this European gem through these advantages:
Highly Improved Standard of Living
With this country’s low crime rate and comparatively low cost of living, you’ll feel more safe and secure, enjoying life in an established environment. Compared to the UK, running a Spain property is 30-40% less.
Among all the countries in Europe, Spain always lands on the top when it comes to increased property values. Buying a property in this country is definitely an ideal thing to do.
Almost 90% of the time, the weather is sunny, and not much rain is experienced. Even the winter is relatively warm there. If you want to escape the breezy weather in Canada, Spain is definitely a great choice.
Value for Money
When looking for a villa or a property, the only problem you’ll have is the difficulty to choose, just because most options give an excellent value for money.
Health Benefits
Of course, you’d like to live somewhere that values your health. This country is recommended by the World Health Organization when it comes to this aspect. The number of hospitals is quite high, and the medical treatments are urgent and of high quality.
Friendly Locals
Warm and amiable, the Spanish is easy and relaxing to spend time with. They are known to be helpful and accommodating, as well.
These are just some of the many reasons it’s ideal for working in Spain. But before actually going there to work, you have to understand the process. If you’re from Canada, you have to know the due processes involved. What exactly do you need to do? We’ve laid out everything you have to know below:
Canadians typically need documents for Spain for a variety of reasons. Aside from working purposes, these documents are required to immigrate and study in Spain. These files are also required for visa purposes. Have your pen and paper ready as you list down these required documents:

  1. Academic certificates or diplomas issued by a Canadian institute
  2. Birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates issued by civil registries
  3. Certified criminal record checks
  4. Copy of identification documents
  5. Power of attorney
  6. Commercial documents

What to do after preparing these documents, you may ask. These must undergo the apostille process for them to be recognized in Spain. This means that an apostille certificate must attest to these files and documents with a stamp. In Canada, where apostille is not present, we do the authentication and legalization processes equivalent to the said process.
The next question you might have is how to do this process. Make sure to check the following three steps:

  • All of your documents should be original and must be notarized.
  • Authentication of the documents by The Ministry of Global Affairs is necessary.
  • The Embassy of Spain should legalize the documents.

Only after these steps, your documents will be eligible to be used to work in Spain. The Ministry of Global Affairs and The Embassy of Spain is located in Ottawa. Meanwhile, the Consulate of Spain is in Toronto.
