Planning to immigrate to Costa Rica?
Let’s start this article with an underrated fact: Costa Rica is such a beautiful country. As many ex-pats can prove, this Central American nation offers its residents a glorious lifestyle without them having to spend a lot. San Jose is its modern capital city that is an attraction on its own. The country also boasts a reliable utility service with clean and potable water. Besides, Costa Rica is a leader in scenic locations, from emerald rainforests, deserted sandy beaches to quaint and humble villages to turquoise lake spots.
These are just some of the few justifications why many Canadians move to this tropical gem. The trend has become more popular among locals, and the reasons are apparent. Some of which are the following:
The list can go on and on. If you are to dig deeper into what Costa Rica offers, it’s not a surprise that you’ll find more tempting reasons to immigrate there.
Documents to Prepare for Immigration Purposes
As you may expect, moving from Canada to Costa Rica involves various steps that you have to complete legally and properly. Take note of the files and documents that you have to prepare should you finally decide to have that first step to becoming a legal Costa Rican resident.
Some of these documents are listed below:
The Apostille for Costa Rica
In March 2011, Costa Rica became a member of The Hague Convention on the Apostille. This group recognizes and acknowledges the purpose and effectiveness of a public document issued in any signatory country.
Canada is still not part of the convention. However, we have the authentication and legalization processes equivalent to the apostille. This includes a three-step process:
1) Preparing the documents required.
2) Authenticating the documents from The Ministry of Global Affairs.
3) Legalizing the documents from The Embassy of Costa Rica.
After these steps are done, the documents are ready to be used in Costa Rica.
